Deedra Climer is a Southern writer who prefers to write about race and poverty instead of sweet tea and Magnolia trees. Born and raised in Memphis, she splits time between Tennessee and Southeast Michigan where she runs a small organic farm and apiary with her husband, daughter and German Shepherd, Ezra.
Currently, she is working on a book of creative non-fiction about trying to find meaning in her life in the days following the death of her 23 year-old son, Joshua. Wailing Wall is due out in 2015 by Inkshares Publishing. You can read a draft chapter and learn more about the project.
She’s also working on Got Down on my Knees, a fiction piece about uncovering family truths in the backdrop of the Mississippi Delta. Not yet represented, draft chapters from this piece will be posted on this blog for reader input from time to time.
As a blogger, you’ll find she has an opinion about nearly everything.
